Capt. William Strain estate signatures

Capt. William Strain, brother to John, David, James, Thomas, Samuel, and Sarah.  His son, John R. Strain, becomes prominent in the affairs of the Strain families after they move to Highland Co., OH.  His wife is said to be Margaret Montgomery.

Robert Wilson, Minister of the Upper Long Cane Creek Presbyterian Church. This is not the same Robert Wilson that was brother to Mary Wilson Strain.

This Robert Wilson left SC and went to OH, where he became a prominent minister, and president of a university.

William's widow, Margaret, signed with her mark. His brother, my GGGGgrandfather, David Strain also signed.

Try to compare this Matthew Wilson signature with others. It doesn't appear to be the same as Matthew Wilson, father of Mary Wilson Strain.

However, it could be his, just as a younger man, prior to his will and other documents in the 1830s.
