DETERMINATION WILL WIN

by

Allen Elmo Strain

Sometime between Allen Strain's retirement in 1958 and his death in 1967, he compiled his memoirs.  In addition to these memoirs, he wrote several short "inspirational" stories which he submitted to magazines for consideration for publication.  Among these stories, is the autobiography of his youth, entitled "Determination Will Win."  This is essentially the story of his senior year of high school, just after his father died, until he obtained his first teaching job the next fall.  In his letter of submission to have this story published, he states that it is a true story.  All of the facts and circumstances match nearly identically to his life, with the exception of the name of the main character (Benton instead of his name, Allen), and the fact that Benton has two younger brothers and one sister, instead of two younger sisters and one brother.
